Hangers is a two-channel video installation that takes a critical perspective on the society that romanticizes female figures in mass media, fashion ads, and Hollywood cinema—the society that perpetuates patriarchy and repeatedly violates a woman’s right to her own body. By re-contextualizing found footage and commercial items, Hangers explores ideas of consumer culture, conventional standards of beauty, class, desire, and societal expectations.

Wire hangers play a significant role both in the fashion industry and in unsafe abortion—a dichotomy that emphasizes the breadth of the problem. Behind the flat, mesmerizing surface of the woman depicted in advertisements and movies lies the twisted reality of womanhood: that a global superpower continues its political assault on women's rights while 22 million women worldwide endure an unsafe abortion every year.
