This project addresses the fact that language shapes and defines the way we understand and relate to our own experience. In the English language, we don’t always have the means to express ourselves or put words to what we are feeling. Our vocabulary isn’t as expansive as our experience, and as a result, our true experience remains in the unconscious.

This workshop series engages with the public in order to create a new ‘language’ so that we can bring our internal experience into the light. This is a language of objects — a language of the collective unconscious. These objects are designed to help us express ourselves even when we don’t have the words to do so. These objects are here to mirror our feelings back to us, allowing us to sit in recognition of them. Relief.

This beloved workshop explores making things directly from the source -- what it means to be in contact with mother nature to forage materials with our hands, with her blessing and permission. It’s about forming an intimate relationship with her and with our own bodies along the way. 

We explore different materials through each season and time of year. And we explore the spirit and nature of each individual element. 

The workshop is meant to teach how to make things physically, but it’s also a deep dive into our own bodies and psyche as those parts of us make contact with the physical world. It’s reintroducing our bodies to practices they’ve known for thousands of years! Here you can remember what you already know. I will be overjoyed to have you join us on this journey -- of allowing ourselves to be transformed by what we make as we bring these creations into being. 

In this workshop, we consider what the nervous system is craving and how we can build ourselves tools to give our bodies what they want. Maybe tools for play, for grounding, for touch – the choice is up to you. We do this by creatively resourcing material that has been scrapped or neglected and repurpose it to become a dear friend and ally.
